Because good intentions aren’t enough
Great Judges are Made.
Not Born.
Who we are
The Judicial Education Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides high-quality, continuing-education programs to federal and state judges around the country. We recognize that well-trained jurists committed to the rule of law is necessary for a flourishing society.
The Problem
While most judges had sterling legal careers as attorneys before being appointed or elected to the Bench, the job of a judge is very different from that of an attorney. Yet, new judges receive almost no training. And most jurisdictions have little to no budget to train them.
We’re The Solution
We provide high-quality judicial education to our nation’s judges absolutely free of cost.
What we do
We provide high-quality continuing education courses to federal and state judges around the country. Right now, we’re focused on training judges in the use of corpus linguistics — an interpretive tool that harnesses the power of big data to produce empirical evidence about the meaning of words and phrases in statutes, constitutions, and contracts.

Corpus Linguistics
Corpus linguistics is one of the most significant developments in legal interpretation in the last thirty years. It has been embraced by judges and justices at all levels of the federal and state judiciary. But while judges are increasingly aware of the significance of corpus linguistics in theory, there remains a critical need for training. That’s where we come in.
